Put fruit in the hands of children in need with the Juicy Juice Fruit For All Project

Summer time is typically a welcome break from the school year. Many of us are making plans to play outside, go to the pool or even take a family vacation. We enjoy our time off and all the adventure it brings. But for many families in need, the simple fact that summer is here puts them at risk for hunger. This year, you can join Nestlé Juicy Juice, Feeding America and celebrity mom and anti-hunger advocate Samantha Harris who are joining forces to put up to 35 million pieces of fruit in the hands of children and families in need.

During the 2011 federal fiscal year, 21 million children received free or reduced-price meals, including essential fruit servings, through the National School Lunch Program. Unfortunately, just 2.3 million of these same children participated in the Summer Food Service Program that year, leaving 18.7 million without assistance (source: USDA).

Between June 1 and August 31, any time you purchase Juicy Juice*, you are providing a piece of fruit to a family who needs it. In addition, kids and their parents can log on to Juicy Juice’s Facebook page and complete fun and engaging challenges like games, quizzes and puzzles to earn even more fruit donations for those in need at no cost to you. Check out the Fruit for All program to learn more!

This is a great way to get our kids involved in the fight against hunger. What I love about this program is that Nestle’ and Feeding America are providing real fruit to these families and not just another processed meal or bag of chips. Giving is as simple as logging into Facebook and playing a game or buying a bottle of juice. You can get Juicy Juice just about anywhere, but in case you aren’t sure where to find it, locate your closest location here. Finally, make sure upload any picture of you and your family helping feed the hungry at fruitforallproject.com and they’ll donate three pieces of fruit to the cause!
