***UPDATE: Thanks so much for all of your well-wishes and prayers. The tubes went in with no complications and Calvin did awesome! ***
I am battling a headcold this week. It’s not terrible and for the most part cold medicine is helping. But I am still achy and sore and tired. And I should probably sleep. But I can’t. I am full of nervous energy today.
Tomorrow is the day we get Cal’s ear tubes and we have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. He can’t have anything to eat or drink after midnight tonight because of the general anesthesia. GENERAL. ANESTHESIA.
The thought gives me chills.
I’m not worried about the procedure. I am told he will be in and out in like 5 minutes. But I can’t wrap my head around this anesthesia bit. Jerry and I both agree on the choice to get the tubes. We think he needs them and we trust that he will be fine. But I am a Mama. This is what I do. I mean when you look at these faces, how can you not worry?
I’ve really tried not to think about it before today. But now I have to make sure everything is ready for our early morning. I need to lay my clothes out and make sure I don’t forget his empty cup (they will fill it with juice) and comfort item.
And I wait.
I know so many parents who sing the praises of when their child got tubes. If you’d like to pray for us, I would greatly appreciate it! And if you have a positive story to share, I’d love to hear it.
