It’s National Pound Cake Day! Sara Lee Giveaway!

*** Congrats to Doreen, Amy, Jessie C. and Angie who were randomly selected as winners!**

Happy Friday everyone! Today is a good day. Yesterday’s post was a major emotional dumping place for me and after some really great talks with various people, I feel much lighter today! And that’s a good thing, because I am about to stock up on some delicious pound cake!

Growing up we always had strawberry shortcake with Sara Lee Pound Cake. It was kindof the best thing ever and it still is. I will be making it this weekend and I am so excited! Super easy and so delicious! Of course Sara Lee has archives full of delicious recipes to try. Do you have a favorite? Here are a couple of mine!

Classic Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients
• 1 cup sliced strawberries
• 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
• 8 slices, cut 1/2-inch thick, Sara Lee® Frozen Pound Cake, thawed
• 1-1/2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed
• Chocolate curls (optional)
Method
1. Sprinkle sugar over strawberries
2. Place 1 cake slice on each plate
3. Top each slice with 2 tablespoons strawberries, second cake slice, and 2 tablespoons strawberries.
4. Serve with whipped topping and chocolate curls, if desired.

Pound Cake Pudding Cake

This is a recipe I pulled from a magazine years ago and it is delicious!

1. Slice a pound cake into 3 slices

2. Mix a box of instant vanilla pudding with 3/4 cups of milk and 1 cup of cool whip

3. Layer the cake with the pudding mixture and berries!

4. Top it with plain cool whip and more berries and chill.

Win Free Pound Cake!

Of course I am going to share this happiness with you! But not mine, you have to get your own :-) So the generous folks at Sara Lee are giving FOUR (4) Lil-Kid-Things readers each 2 coupons for a free pound cake!! Hooray!

How I started eating Sara Lee pound cake was “straight up”! While still in college my (now) husband and I would buy a pound cake and slice and eat it while it was still frozen. YUMMMM!
