BlogHer 2012 here I come

OH boy y’all I am excited. Why you ask? Because it’s Blogher week! If you are reading this and you are a blogger, you probably know that the BlogHer conference is the biggest in the industry. With 4500 bloggers swarming onto the streets of New York City, it also promises to be the craziest, non-sleepingest, learningest, fastest weekend in blogging.

And.I. can’t. wait.

Some people get overwhelmed in big crowds. I am not one of them. I love the buzzing hive and I am ready to dive in to my action packed schedule.I know that may not be true for everyone. And it might not even be true for me 100% of the time I am in New York. But the secret to thriving at Blogher is attitude.

My advice to anyone attending this conference (or any other big event/conference) is to make the weekend what you want it to be. Live in your own skin, not someone else’s. Do the things that fit you and have fun! I run all of my plans through a little test before I commit. I ask myself 3 questions. If the answers are yes then I do it!

  • Does this fit my brand?
  • Will this help me move closer to my goals?
  • Am I going to have fun?

Blogher is more than a conference and I think that is what I love about it the most. In 2010 I volunteered, packed my schedule full of sessions and parties and still somehow managed to make some new friends. Amazing friends.

This year my schedule is not much different. I am still volunteering (yay! come see me at Registration on Friday) and my schedule is packed. Only this year, I am looking forward to seeing the friends I made 2 years ago that still lift me up when I need someone to talk to and hopefully making a few more! (sorry, I’m greedy like that)

Blogging is a community. A fabulous community with many different types of people who attend for different reasons. Remember your own reasons for being there and you will have the time of your life!

As for me, I’ll be laughing too loud, drinking too much coffee, and rocking my bangs like nobody’s business. If you see me, please say hi! Also, tell me your name like 14 times because I WILL forget it. I’m sorry in advance.
